Xanax.
Xanax (alprazolam) can be prescribed by your doctor if you have some symptoms of anxiety, as well as for panic disorder or anxiety disorder. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice have been reported to cause interactions with Xanax and will need to be excluded from your diet to make sure you are benefitting from the treatment. You will need to watch for any side effects when you first start taking Xanax – for example vomiting, nausea, forgetfulness, constipation, loss of interest in sex, dizziness, drowsiness, dry or watery mouth, lack of balance or coordination, sleep problems, or weight changes. However, the side effects mentioned do not need to be reported –as they tend to go away soon as your body adjusts to the dose prescribed. More serious side effects do need to be reported and may include yellowing of the skin or eyes, muscle twitching, feeling light-headed, hyperactivity, urinating less than usual, depressed mood, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, and seizure. The serious side effects mentioned will need to be reported to your health care provider right away to make sure all the necessary measures are taken. Do not give Xanax to anyone younger than 18 – this drug is supposed to be taken by adult patients only and after it has been discussed with a qualified health care professional.
